RCA intended to release a compilation LP (LSP 4762) that contained a mixture of both live and studio material from early 1972. Fans were made aware of this album when the news was advertised on the sleeve of the "American Trilogy" single in March. The first sign of trouble was when this single didn't perform very well and it was one of the main tracks on this proposed new LP.

NOTE: The title of this new album was also being considered for his new M.G.M documentary that was eventually called "Elvis On Tour".

RCA had recorded a small amount of selected songs from Elvis' Las Vegas engagement in February. In late March he went to Hollywood and recorded some new studio material that would compliment the live recordings.

Elvis then began a fifteen-city road tour in April, where the new documentary would gather most of it's content. He then went to New York to perform at its famous "Madison Square Garden" venue. These shows were a huge success and the artwork for "Standing Room Only" was re-purposed for the now urgently required June release of the "Recorded Live at Madison Square Garden" LP. This LP was supposed to be released in August.

Somehow, many of the great studio tracks recorded in March and intended for "Standing Room Only" inexplicably found themselves amongst older rehashed movie material on various low-budget RCA Camden LP's like "Separate Ways", "Elvis Sings Hits From His Movies" and "Burning Love".

Record one of this release is proof of what should have happened.
