The "Old Gold" retro label re-issued classic original tracks from various artists by buying a licence to release songs that were the property of other labels. They intended to release ten Elvis singles simultaneously, but settled on six after they ran into a few legal issues. The first Elvis release contained two original A-sides, "In the Ghetto" and "Suspicious Minds". They supposedly pressed 2,000 copies of each of the first six singles.

NOTE: The "Old Gold" singles could be found housed in all three available sleeve types as the vinyl was often swapped into better conditioned sleeves.

Love Me Tender

OLD GOLD OG 9611 (45 rpm)

Track Listing:

Side 1:

 1. Love Me Tender

Side 2:

1. (Let Me Be Your) Teddy Bear

Released: October 1986:

Sound Format: mono

UK Single No: (153)

The tracks on this single were the two biggest hits from Elvis' first two movies.

NOTE: The first press of this single had copies pressed with the wrong catalogue number (OG 9611). This error was quickly rectified. (see variation 2)

A thousand copies of the incorrect single was sold to a dealer who distributed some copies privately, while 800 were supposedly destroyed.

Side 1: OG 9611-A    Side 2: OG 9611-B

The label was later re-printed with the correct number (OG 9626). The vinyl however, still had the old number OG 9611 etched on it's run out. To correct this error, the '11' was scratched out and '26' was stamped on as a replacement.
