Elvis' 2nd UK album was titled "Rock 'n' Roll No. 2", while in the U.S. it was simply called "Elvis". They both had the same tracklisting, but used a different front and rear cover. The UK front cover used a September 1956 publicity shot (around the same time the albums material was recorded).

NOTE: This LP was issued using the matrix number G2WP, (G = 1956, 2 = RCA Popular Music Release, W = Country and Western Genre, P = Mono) this was part of the RCA system not EMI. The reason could be because it had the same tracklisting as it's American counterpart. Pressings also had the R/T (1956) and X/T (1957) stamped around the spindle hole.

Side 1: G2WP 7207     Side 2: G2WP 7207

This album was later re-issued by RCA in December 1962. Using both mono and electronic stereo formats. (RD/SF 7528).

This was Elvis' first album release for RCA, and the soundtrack to his second movie. It originally came in a 10" format and contained only eight songs, seven of which were from the movie, the other was a studio track.

The U.S. version of this album was released as a standard 12" LP and had twelve tracks in total.

The extra four songs on the American LP that were omitted on this release, were released in the U.K. on the Extended Play, "Elvis Presley" (RCX 104)

NOTE: This LP was issued using the matrix number H2WL. (H2 = 1957   WL = 10" Mono LP)

Side 1: H2PP 2762     Side 2: H2PP 2763

This album was kept in stock by issuing re-pressings with the same catalogue number until it was deleted by RCA in 1965.

Released: November 1958:

Sound Format: mono

UK Album No: (05)

The artwork used for the album sleeve was completely different from the U.S. release. The UK version used a photograph taken during a publicity shoot for "Love Me Tender"

It contained eight christmas songs and four religious tracks that had already appeared in July on the extended play: "Peace in the Valley" (RCX 101)

The back cover originally had four photographs which promoted Elvis' "Loving You" 10" album, plus two extended plays "Peace in the Valley" (RCX 101) and "Elvis Presley" (RCX 104). The centre photograph showed a still from his latest motion picture: "Jailhouse Rock" from M.G.M.

These photographs were omitted on later re-issues.

NOTE: This LP was issued using the matrix number H2PP. (H2 = 1957    PP = Mono LP)

Side 1: H2PP 6526     Side 2: H2PP 6527

This album was kept in stock by issuing re-pressings with the same catalogue number until it was deleted by RCA in November 1970.
