"Heartbreak Hotel" was the title of the first Elvis Presley record released in the U.K. This was also his first RCA single of new material in the U.S, where it hit the top spot. A haunting ballad, accompanied by pianist, Floyd Cramer. The song was given to Elvis by Mae Boren Axton, who co-wrote it with Tommy Durden. The B-side, another ballad was recorded at the same RCA Nashville session in January, 1956.
