RCA

RB 16069

Released: October 1958:

mono (07)

This LP had no newly recorded material and helped fill a gap created by Elvis' induction into the U.S. army seven months earlier.

It is a unique release in many ways. Firstly, it was issued on the RCA Red Seal label which was normally confined to classical or musical soundtrack releases.

Secondly, it came with a beautiful built-in booklet containing eight publicity photographs from the movie 'Jailhouse Rock'. This booklet was originally released in the U.S. twelve months earlier as part of Elvis' Christmas Album

This LP entered the UK charts for the first time on October 11, 1958, peaking at no. 2. It has been a consistent seller over the years and re-entered the charts on numerous occasions.
