Recently Elvis had been musically stifled releasing one formulaic movie soundtrack after another. Now he returned to his gospel roots with this studio album which contained material recorded in Nashville in May 1966. "Crying in the Chapel" was originally recorded in October 1960 and left off the "His Hand In Mine" gospel album. It had been a hit for Elvis last year, reaching number one in the U.K.

NOTE: This LP was issued using the matrix number TPRS. TP = 1966       RS = Stereo LP

This album was kept in stock by issuing re-pressings with the same catalogue number until it was deleted by RCA in April 1969.
