This latest release showed how versatile Elvis was when recording in the studio. The A-side was a previously released ballad made popular by crooner Tony Bennett. Elvis chose to record this as a power ballad, something he was very comfortable in doing. The flipside a gospel song written by Dallas Frazier. Both were recorded in September 1970.

The A-side, a BJ Thomas song, was recorded live in Las Vegas in August 1970 and Elvis was quite nervous about messing the lyrics up during this engagement. On this single, you can hear him laugh as he quickly grabbed a reminder note on stage to memorise the words. This and all subsequent versions were only recorded live as Elvis never tried it in the studio. The B-side was recorded in June 1970 and both songs were rehearsed during July 1970 for "That's The Way It Is"
